COUNTY OKS BUYING TWO NEW HELICOPTERS.

 or ill people to hospitals and for dropping water to fight wildfires.

The two new helicopters will replace helicopters that are 24 years old, are underpowered and take lots of maintenance, officials said. The new helicopters must be fitted with navigation, firefighting 1. firefighting - What sysadmins have to do to correct sudden operational problems. An opposite of hacking. One of the older helicopters will be sold and the other kept as a backup craft at least until next year, officials said.

County fire Inspector John Mancha said the total fleet at Air Operations now numbers seven, but also that in June June: see month.  a third Firehawk helicopter will arrive for service.

The county Fire Department Air Operations wing has five Bell helicopters Bell Helicopter Textron is an American helicopter and tiltrotor manufacturer headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. A division of Textron, Bell manufactures military helicopter and tiltrotor products in the United States (primarily in and around Fort Worth as well as in Amarillo,  in addition to the two faster, more powerful Sikorsky Firehawk helicopters.

All are considered 14-passenger helicopters, though capacity is less when stretchers and other medical equipment are in use.

Not all helicopters are put into service simultaneously. Mechanics perform extensive maintenance operations on some of their fleet while keeping others ready for flight.
