COUNTY LOOKS AT YOUTH FACILITIES; GROUP HOMES DISTURB RESIDENTS.Byline: Lee Condon Daily News Staff Writer Van Nuys residents are upset about a proposal before the Board of Supervisors today to reopen a pair of youth group homes that were shut down by the state last year due to drug use, rioting and sex among residents. The supervisors are considering buying or leasing Pride House and Lion's Gate as part of a plan to care for children who have been taken from unfit unfit not properly prepared, e.g. physically incapable of performing hard work as in racing, because of lack of training. Edelman. , whose district includes Van Nuys, said the past problems at Pride House and Lion's Gate make it a bad investment, and the county should look for a better location. ``It's inappropriate for these kids to be moved into Pride House,'' he said. ``It's clearly not a fit for the neighborhood.'' Yaroslavksy said that before buying new sites, county officials first need to create an effective program for helping the children at MacLaren with special needs. ``Our problem is not square footage.
