Byline: Michael Coit Daily News Staff Writer

Led by the Oak Park and Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. It was discovered in 1542 by Spanish explorer Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo, and eventually became part of the Rancho El Conejo land grant by  districts, Ventura County high schools exceeded statewide averages in an annual report assessing school completion rates, test scores and college enrollment.

The report, released today, is a major part of the California Department of Education's accountability effort, and measures the performance of each comprehensive high school for the 1994-95 school year.

Charles Weis, the county superintendent of schools, said the performance report is valuable ``as a global indicator of education's health'' in the county.

``We've continued to remain above the statewide averages,'' Weis said. ``We're trying to serve a widely diverse education population in Ventura County. We want every kid to succeed.''

Oak Park High School led the way in the county in keeping students in school for four years and sending the greatest percentage of graduating seniors to the California State University Enrollment

Oak Park also had the greatest percentage of students scoring above the national average on the SAT and ACT college entrance examinations.

Principal Jeff Chancer Chancer was a British television serial produced by Central Television for ITV. It told the story of a likeable conman and rogue (played by Clive Owen) at the end of the yuppie eighties.  credited the entire suburban community of Oak Park with ``pulling for the same goal to help kids be successful.'' Chancer said an important goal is keeping students in school so they have a chance to succeed and go on to college.

``The parents expect us to get their kids to attend college,'' Chancer said.

Conejo Valley high schools combined to rank within 5 percentage points of Oak Park in the areas including students staying in school and students enrolling in the state colleges and universities. Conejo Valley high schools also ranked within 2 percentage points of Oak Park in the percentage of students scoring above national test score averages.
