VENTURA - Trying to find their own solutions to the electricity crisis, Ventura County supervisors today will discuss buying backup generators for the Hall of Administration and, possibly, even creating a countywide coun·ty·wide

During a two-hour study session, the board will consider approving a $4 million loan to buy two generators that could be used when the power goes out. The county hall is among the commercial users that have an interruptible-service contract with Southern California Edison Southern California Edison (or SCE Corp), the largest subsidiary of Edison International (NYSE: EIX), is the primary electricity supply company for much of Southern California. It provides 11 million people with electricity. , and three weeks of Stage 3 power alerts have made it difficult to operate normally.

Five existing emergency generators provide only one-third of the power needed for full operation, officials said.

``We are going to explore the options of what we can do to help the region,'' said Supervisor Kathy Long. ``Should we buy the two plants in the county and provide municipal service will be an option.''
