Ventura County is averaging one Super Lotto winner a month in 1998.

Half of Saturday's $20 million jackpot was claimed by Janet Janet: see Clouet, Jean.

The term is not applicable when lots are drawn without payment by the interested parties to determine some matter, e.g. .

The lump-sum option reduced her winnings to $4,810,000. After the 28 percent federal tax is paid, Shusta and her husband of 37 years, Al, will take home $3,463,200.

Shusta joins 1998 Ventura County winners Yolanda Starr of Ventura, who won one-third of the $104 million April 8 jackpot, Burton Swope of Ventura, who won $3 million in the Feb. 7 drawing, and James Hayes James or Jim Hayes is the name of:

of Camarillo, who won $19 million in the Jan. 8 drawing.

Shusta saw the winning numbers on television just after the Saturday drawing, Freund said.

``She told (Al) to be calm because she thought they had won,'' he said.

They couple checked and rechecked their ticket, but the winning numbers remained the same, Freund said. Shusta's winning numbers had no special significance, other than she thought they came up pretty frequently, he said.

Shusta bought her winning ticket at the Park Plaza Wine and Spirits at 4815 S. Rose Ave. in Oxnard. The store will receive $50,000, or one half of 1 percent of Shusta's share of the prize, Freund said.

Shusta said she plans to pay off some debts and travel with the money, but has no immediate ideas for splurges, Freund said.

``They were real calm and had no real plans,'' he said.

The other winning Lotto ticket for Saturday's drawing was purchased in Woodland Hills, but has not yet been claimed, Freund said.
