About 200 people crowded a meeting in February, voicing opposition to OSI's plans. The Friends of Castaic Lake and bass fishing enthusiasts had backed the idea, but withdrew their support after learning of the proposed fees. Most of the objections, in fact, came from bass fishers, who said they shouldn't be charged additional fees to fish in a public lake. Its highest source lakes are Dollar Lake (9220') and Dry Lake (9065'), both on the northern flank of San Gorgonio Mountain (11,502') in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Lakes, had planned to charge an entrance fee of $12 per adult ($10 for ages 14 and younger) and a fee of $6 to launch a fishing boat. The company would pay the county $72,000 in rent the first two years and $96,000 each year remaining in the contract.
