COUNTRY SINGER SHELTON TO KICK OFF CONCERT SERIES SUMMER EVENTS CAN DRAW UP TO 10,000.

PALMDALE -- Country singer Blake Shelton Blake Shelton (born June 18 1976 in Ada, Oklahoma) is an American neotraditional country musician and singer-songwriter. Career

Shelton moved to Nashville, Tennessee from his hometown of Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 17.
 will perform Saturday in the Marie Kerr Park amphitheater to kick off the city's free summer park concerts.

Shelton, whose songs include ``Austin'' and ``Heavy Liftin,''' will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the park, 2723 W. Rancho Vista Blvd. Admission is free.

``We expect a big turnout. We always get a pretty good turnout with the country acts,'' city special events manager Steve Buffalo said.

The summer concerts normally draw 6,000 to 10,000 people, he said.

Concertgoers can bring blankets and lawn chairs. Local restaurants and groups will operate food and drink stands. Alcoholic beverages

The Beach Boys concert is sponsored by Clear Channel Radio, not by the city. Tickets are $50 and $30, or $20 for lawn seating. Lawn seating is free for children age 5 and younger. Tickets are available at www.8666itsclear.com.
