For the first Coachella, there was some buzz, but we struggled hard. The first-year attendance numbers (between the two) are like night and day." The music appeals to mainstream America, meaning everyone from your neighbor to your doctor, Fold said. "If you go up to 20 people who are fans of this music, 20 people will know about it. That's super encouraging." Most of the Empire Polo Field layout will remain unchanged from Coachella the weekend before. The main differences are 3,000 reserved seats (as opposed to general admission) at the main stage and no Gobi Tent. There won't be a beer garden at Stagecoach either. "People will be able to roam freely; it's more family-based." The Mustang Stage (aka the Mojave Tent at Coachella) has hardwood flooring for line dancing. "The storytellers there will end at 7:30 p.m. We have a 2,500-square-foot floor so people can dance all night long with a DJ and honky tonk music." So much will be going on that "we feel there's nothing like it this side of the Mississippi."
