To hold spellbound; captivate: The magic show enthralled the audience. 2. To enslave. is also what could make it, in the long run, really frustrating. The series jumps back and forth in time, from just before the nine characters of the title are brought together in a bank, to the aftermath 52 hours later when a hostage situation brought on by a botched botch tr.v. botched, botch·ing, botch·es 1. To ruin through clumsiness. 2. To make or perform clumsily; bungle. 3. To repair or mend clumsily. n. 1. bank heist Bank Heist is a maze video game developed by 20th Century Fox for the Atari 2600. Each level in Bank Heist is a maze-like city (similar to Pac-Man). The objective of the game is to rob as many banks as possible while avoiding the police. (and apparently an equally botched job by the police surrounding the bank) comes to a violent conclusion. Brief flashbacks to the hostage crisis When a surrounded terrorist or criminal tries to hold off the authorities by force, it is considered a "barricaded suspect" situation. When a person/s holds others against their will, but keeps them hidden, it is simple kidnapping. -- which will be fleshed out in future episodes -- are interspersed. Bad behavior and more This event, naturally, affects different characters in different ways. Jeremy (Scott Wolf Scott Richard Wolf (born June 4, 1968) is an American actor. n. Slang Variant of schlub. Egan (John Billingsley) finds himself reborn after reacting heroically during the crisis. Nick (Tim Daly), a cop with a gambling problem, and Kathryn (Kim Raver), an assistant district attorney, also apparently acted assertively, while the actions of the bank manager Malcolm (Chi McBride), his daughter Felicia (Dana Davis), and bank tellers and sister Eva (Lourdes Benedicto) and Franny (Camille Guaty) are unclear. One of these characters doesn't survive the ordeal, but of course will remain on the show via flashbacks as the full story of each character's courage or cowardice will unfold over the course of the season. After tonight's episode, you're certainly intrigued enough to want to find out. But the idea that it could take all season for viewers to discover everything the characters already know could get annoying pretty quickly. Could be a challenge A lot of serialized shows are dependent upon what they hold back from viewers, but here, that may not work so well, because the manner in which creators Hank Steinberg and K.J. Steinberg withhold key information could feel like a huge cheat. Nonetheless an important lesson for us all: Use an ATM. THE NINE - Three stars What: Disparate characters are united after surviving a tragic hostage situation. Where: ABC ABC in full American Broadcasting Co. Major U.S. television network.
