COUNCILMAN PADILLA SET TO LEAD PACOIMA PARADE.

More than 2,000 people are expected to turn out for the 32nd annual Pacoima Christmas Parade today, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The parade begins at the intersection of Van Nuys and Laurel Canyon boulevards Laurel Canyon Boulevard is a major street in the city of Los Angeles, California. It starts off at Polk Street in Sylmar in the northern San Fernando Valley near the junction of the San Diego (Interstate 405) and the Golden State Freeways (Interstate 5). , running along Van Nuys Boulevard and ending at Herrick Avenue. This year's theme is ``Marching Together Into the New Millennium,'' and the grand marshal Grand Marshal is a ceremonial, military, or political office of very high rank. He was elected as the State Senator for the 20th District of California in November 2006 and was inaugurated in early December. In order to enter the Senate he had to resign as Councilman for the 7th District on the Los Angeles City .

There will be at least 50 participants in the parade, including marching bands, drill teams, floats, local civic leaders, classic cars and equestrian groups.

Gerardo Guzman, the parade's planning committee planning committee n (in local government) → comité m de planificación  chairman, said prizes will be given out for the best parade entries in six different categories at 2 p.m., at a postparade ceremony at the David Gonzalez Recreation Center at the corner of Norris Avenue and Pierce Street.

There also will be food booths and musical entertainment at the center, which is located one block south from the end of the parade.
