Councilwoman Wendy Greuel Wendy Greuel is President Pro Tempore of the Los Angeles City Council representing the 2nd District. Greuel was elected in 2002 to fill the remainder of the term of Councilman Joel Wachs. She was elected in her own right in 2003 and reelected in 2007. recalled that she toured the site last year with Council President Alex Padilla and Rep. Howard Berman, D-Van Nuys, and they were assured action would be taken to clean it up. ``This shouldn't take that long,'' Greuel said, noting the Corps of Engineers was also late in providing soil and water samples. ``This is something of major concern to everyone who lives in the area and uses the lake.'' Padilla, who represents the area, said he was upset to read federal officials say it was not a natural lake. ``They said it was just a hole in the ground with water in it,'' Padilla said. ``This is just as much a lake, and just as important, as Lake Balboa is to residents of the West Valley.'' The council asked the Corps of Engineers to send a representative to a meeting to explain what's going on What's Going On is a record by American soul singer Marvin Gaye.
