Byline: Heather MacDonald Staff Writer

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. The second survey is scheduled to come before the council Tuesday, but none of the speed limits that the council objected to have been lowered. Speed limits on three roads will increase by 5 mph, while limits will be placed on four other roads for the first time.

Ferry singled out the speed limit of 30 mph on Isabella Parkway from Golden Triangle Golden Triangle can refer to:

The staff report found that 30 mph is a safe speed.

Ferry could not be reached for comment Friday.

The council can choose to reduce the speed limits, but law enforcement officers will not be able to use radar to ticket speeders. Under state law, the speed limit must be set at the 85th percentile percentile,
n the number in a frequency distribution below which a certain percentage of fees will fall. E.g., the ninetieth percentile is the number that divides the distribution of fees into the lower 90% and the upper 10%, or that fee level
speed in a survey done every five years if radar is to be used.

``Eighty-five percent of drivers drive safely and appropriately for road conditions,'' said city traffic engineer Bahman Janka.

Without radar, officers would have to pace speeders, which is more dangerous, said Sgt. Clint Bowers Bowers is a surname, and may refer to
