COUNCIL MAY RAISE STAKES IN BATTLE.

The City Council on Wednesday will consider allocating $344,000 more toward its fight of the 3,050-home Ahmanson Ranch project proposed in the southeast corner of Ventura County.

From July to October, the city spent $176,194 - $26,000 more than budgeted to challenge Washington Mutual “WaMu” redirects here. For the Washington, DC radio station, see WAMU.

``There have been 17 lawsuits involving the Ahmanson Ranch project, and in all of them either the ruling has favored Ahmanson Ranch or the cases were settled,'' McGarry said. ``So, we are 17-0 and Calabasas has been party to a number of those lawsuits and without success. I think the numbers tell the story there.''

Seattle-based Washington Mutual bank must still clear some hurdles with regulatory agencies but anticipates breaking ground in 2003 on the project.
