In the 12 weeks ending October 15, 1995 private label soft drink sales accounted for 13.1% of all soft drinks sold in U.S. supermarkets. While Cott's traditional private label competitors have experienced a decline of 6% in their market share, compared to the same period last year, Cott's share has increased 13% to 4.1% of soft drinks sold. For the first time, these latest 12 week figures place Cott ahead of Seven-up in total market share.

Commenting on the results, Cott Senior Vice President of Marketing, Dan Portnoy, said, "People are talking about how much private label programs have declined this year. In part that's true, as our competitor's shares are down 5% over the latest 52 week period. However, our customers, who have supported premium store brand programs, continue to grow year over year. We are particularly encouraged by the latest market share results which show significant double digit Noun 1. double digit - a two-digit integer; from 10 to 99

 growth for all flavor segments. As an example, in the orange segment, Cott supplied premium store brand shares are ahead of Crush, and almost even with Minute Maid Minute Maid is a product line of beverages, usually associated with orange juice, but now extends to soft drinks of many kinds, including Hi-C.
