QUARTZ HILL - More than 50 motorists were ticketed for speeding and other traffic violations as authorities cracked down Tuesday on people driving unsafely near Quartz Hill schools.

In Quartz Hill, CHP officers ticketed eight speeders, one person driving on the wrong side of the road, one motorist who ran a stop sign and one who failed to yield to a pedestrian. They also issued tickets to eight people for not wearing seat belts and two for vehicular mechanical violations.

Sheriff's deputies issued an additional 36 citations in the Quartz Hill area.
