COSMOSDesignSTAR Chosen as Tool for SAE Seminar.

Business Editors

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 2004

COSMOS(TM) today announced that COSMOSDesignSTAR(TM) has been chosen as the software tool for a Society of Automotive Engineers SAE International (SAE) is a professional organization for mobility engineering professionals in aerospace, automotive and the commercial vehicle industries.

The Society is a standards development organization for the engineering of powered vehicles of all kinds, including
(SAE) professional development seminar to be held on January 26-27, 2004 in Troy, MI.

The seminar, entitled "Finite Element Analysis Finite element analysis (FEA) is a computer simulation technique used in engineering analysis. It uses a numerical technique called the finite element method (FEM). There are many finite element software packages, both free and proprietary.  for Design Engineers," will be a hands-on workshop presented by Dr. Paul Kurowski, president of Design Generator, Inc., of London, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Kurowski has taught finite element analysis, machine design, mechanics of materials Mechanics of materials is a field of study at the boundary of two disciplines, Applied mechanics and Materials Science and Engineering, focussing on relations between the mechanical behavior of materials and their microstructures. , solid modeling and biomechanics for various universities, professional organizations and industries.

"I wanted to use a program that's well interfaced with a wide variety of CAD systems," says Dr. Kurowski. "COSMOSDesignSTAR is CAD-independent and very easy to use. It is also capable of performing nonlinear analyses. Computers have become fast enough to handle the large size of nonlinear analysis problems, and COSMOSDesignSTAR makes it quite easy to use. Engineers can benefit from performing these analyses because they can model their products more accurately with the information they gain."

COSMOSDesignSTAR helps design engineers and expert analysts alike detect potential design problems quickly and correct them before beginning prototype production, saving companies the time and expense of post-production fixes. In use in some 2000 companies, COSMOSDesignSTAR is fully associative with SolidWorks(R), Solid Edge(R), and Autodesk(R) Inventor, and can also read geometry files from such other popular solid modeling programs as CATIA A family of 2D and 3D CAD programs from IBM. CATIA was one of the first CAD programs to provide 3D solid modeling. The program was developed by Dassault Systems, a French aerospace company. (R), Pro/ENGINEER(R), CADKEY(R) and IDEAS(R).
