CORRIGAN SHARES IDEAS FOR CSUN.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Daily News Staff Writer

Myles Corrigan hasn't been asked to become the next athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  at Cal State Northridge, nor is Corrigan certain he'd accept the position if it were offered.

But when Corrigan, one of four finalists for the job and a 1977 CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  graduate, fielded questions at a public forum on campus Thursday, he left little doubt that he's already formulated for·mu·late

``One of the questions we have to ask is, `Where are we going to get the best returns? Where?' '' Corrigan said to a small group gathered in a conference room in the school's athletic department. ``Then we go after that.''

Corrigan's on-campus interview follows that of William Lide, who interviewed Tuesday. The remaining two finalists - Robert Arias and Richard Dull - will interview next week. A fifth finalist, Brian Quinn For the Northern Irish American soccer player, see .

Corrigan, an assistant athletic director at the University of Washington and a former Husky assistant football coach, named a handful of local companies that CSUN should immediately reach out to for financial support. Then he talked about on-campus projects designed to welcome back past Northridge athletic stars and supporters and to recognize their contributions to the program.

The intent, Corrigan explained, was to create passion, enthusiasm and financial direction for an athletic department lacking in all three areas.

One such project - which Corrigan called the ``CSUN Dons'' - would mirror ``Husky Legends,'' a program Corrigan instituted at Washington in which past greats are honored.

``We need to mend fences in that regard,'' Corrigan said. ``It's crucial that we get those people back in the fold, if they aren't already.''

``If you get me, you get a man of faith and honesty,'' he said. ``If you get me, you get a man of loyalty. And if you get me, you'll get a `friend-raiser' and a fund-raiser.''
