On page 418, right-hand column, in the first full paragraph, the sentence reading, "In 1900, only 4% of the population lived to age 65" should have read, "In 1900, only 4% of the population had attained the age of 65." This sentence, and those following it in the paragraph, refer to the proportion of the population at specific times, and not to life expectancies Life Expectancy 1. The age until which a person is expected to live. 2. The remaining number of years an individual is expected to live, based on IRS issued life expectancy tables. . |
