 provider of self-checkout systems and field service to retailers, announced today that it has signed a letter of agreement for the purchase of substantially all of the assets of RBA Inc. RBA Inc. is Canada's largest independent service company.

The acquisition of RBA Inc.'s service assets will enable Optimal Systems Services (OSS Oss (ôs), city (1994 pop. 62,141), North Brabant prov., S Netherlands; chartered 1399. It is a significant industrial center. Manufactures include meat products, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electrical equipment, and metalware. ), Optimal's growing service division, to expand its resources, expertise and service offering in Canada.

Headquartered in Montreal, RBA is the largest independent Canadian provider of multi-vendor hardware maintenance outsourcing services, with over 350,000 sites being serviced and annual revenues of approximately CDN$41.0 million. RBA delivers its maintenance services through various business segments, including Interac/Credit Card POS (1) See point of sale and packet over SONET.

In addition to servicing the needs of its self-checkout customers, OSS provides hardware maintenance support for third-party accounts.

Optimal expects to complete this transaction on or before September 30, 2003, and looks forward to announcing the final terms of the acquisition.
