NFL Great Jerry Rice Signs as Spokesperson for Compex Sport

Football Super Star Credits Innovative Device

for Improving Leg Strength and Muscle Size

Compex Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:CMPX CMPX Complex ), today announced that future football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice has signed a multi-year contract to serve as spokesperson for the company's Compex(R) Sport, an innovative neuromuscular neuromuscular /neu·ro·mus·cu·lar/ (-mus´ku-ler) pertaining to nerves and muscles, or to the relationship between them.

stimulator that improves muscle size, strength, and performance and enhances physical fitness.

The 40-year-old wide receiver credits the cutting-edge device with improving the size and shape of his left quadricep muscle, which had experienced some atrophication after he underwent knee reconstruction for a knee injury in 1997 and did not completely respond to conventional exercise. Rice was so impressed with the results that he took the unusual step of approaching Compex Technologies about serving as spokesperson, rather than the other way around.

"For two years after my surgery I tried every kind of exercise imaginable, but my left quad still remained smaller and weaker than my right quad," says Rice, a 13-time pro-bowl selection who played 16 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers are a professional American football team. The team plays its home games in San Francisco, California, while the club's headquarters and practice facility are located in Santa Clara, California.

in 2001. "Then I started using Compex Sport for 20 minutes a day, and within just a couple of weeks I noticed a huge difference. Today, my left quad is as strong as my right - and I am back on the football field ready for the coming season."

The first FDA-approved device of its kind to be marketed over-the-counter directly to U.S. consumers, Compex Sport uses electrical impulses to stimulate muscles painlessly and without exercise. Programming these impulses by means of a microprocessor enables athletes to target their workouts, focusing on specific muscles and muscle groups. Widely used in Europe, Compex Sport has been shown in studies to build muscle size and strength as well as to improve endurance and aid in faster muscle recovery after injury.

"I can't think of a more appropriate spokesperson for us than Jerry Rice," says Dan Gladney, President & CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Compex Technologies. "He's one of the top athletes of our time. He is incredibly dedicated to his training regimen, and playing one of the most physically demanding sports. His consistently excellent performance at this stage in his career speaks volumes about his physical preparation, as well as his personal dedication to the game."

"Compex Sport gives athletes in any sport an advantage because it lets them train more efficiently and effectively, and without the physical and psychological fatigue of conventional workouts," says Rice.
