JBoss Increases Market Share

Use of the JBoss application server continues to expand. The product now claims No. 1 market share among developers, No. 1 for ISVs and No. 3 market share for production deployment.

BZ Research's recent "Third Annual Java Use and Awareness Study" reported that JBoss adoption rose from 13.9 percent in 2002 to 26.9 percent in 2003. The 93 percent increase represents the largest percentage growth among major application servers, including BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere.

International Software Vendors and Systems Integrators Select JBoss

While many software vendors already embed the JBoss server in applications and system integrators of all sizes use JBoss, the company formed many official partnerships in the last quarter. These include:

-- European System Integrators--JBoss is building a comprehensive

system integrator network for localized support and

implementation services. The company has established

integrator partners in France, Germany, Italy, Ireland,

Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Belgium and Switzerland.

-- MySQL AB--JBoss and MySQL announced a technology agreement to

ensure optimal performance and support between the JBoss

application server and the MySQL and MaxDB databases. In

addition, the companies are jointly marketing JBoss

professional services and MySQL AB products and services.

-- IONA--IONA(R) named JBoss as its strategic application server

platform. As part of the alliance, IONA offers a range of

enterprise-level consultancy, training and support options to

the JBoss community. Support offerings can be bundled with

IONA's current product offerings or on a stand-alone basis for

JBoss customers. IONA leverages JBoss for back office support.

-- Apple--Apple(R) released the Mac OS(R) X Server "Panther,"

which bundles the JBoss server.

JBoss Increases Service and Production Support Offerings

The company launched several strategic initiatives and programs to further meet the development and deployment needs of enterprise customers and developers using the open source JBoss application server. These include:

-- 24X7 Production Support--JBoss now offers customers and

partners the safety of full 24X7 production support for the

most demanding enterprise applications.

-- JBoss Authorized Service Partner Program--JBoss debuted a

comprehensive partner program for systems integrators,

software vendors and systems vendors. The program allows

partners to provide implementation services, as well as

front-line support for the JBoss application server, while

JBoss delivers the back-end expert level 24X7 support. This

two-pronged services approach results in the highest level of

service.

-- Indemnification--JBoss announced indemnification for the JBoss

application server for all production support customers,

making the server the safe choice for partners and commercial

customers.

-- Sun J2EE Certification Founders Program--JBoss licensed the

J2EE Certification Test Kit from Sun and established the J2EE

Founders Program. Program participants include Borland, IONA,

SchlumbergerSema, Sonic Software, Unisys and webMethods. These

companies are assisting JBoss in the certification effort by

providing significant resources.

JBoss Expands Products and Technological Leadership

JBoss continues to expand the breadth and depth of its middleware offerings. The company issued the latest production version of its core application server, Version 3.2.3.
