The charred bodies of the victims, including two teen-agers, were found in their house on the 2900 block of Lakeridge Drive after firefighters extinguished a blaze that heavily damaged the home. Officials said the fire was intentionally set, with traces of flammable liquids found in two rear bedrooms. The victims were identified as Tulsi tulsi /tul·si/ (tool´se) a type of basil, Ocimum sanctum, considered sacred in India and having immunostimulant, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, used in ayurvedic medicine. Kumar, 16; her brother, Paras Kumar, 18; their mother, Gita Kumar, 43; and 63-year-old Sitaben Patel, Gita Kumar's mother. Harish Kumar, Gita Kumar's husband, told officials he arrived at his house about 11:15 p.m. and called 911 when he found it engulfed in flames with his family trapped inside. Police questioned Harish Kumar, 47, for hours and later released him. The Kumar family ran a chain of three motels in Los Angeles. Property records show their motels were assessed at more than $2 million in 2000. Tulsi Kumar was a student at Reseda High School Reseda High School, established in 1955, is located in the Reseda section of Los Angeles, California, United States.
