 CORNING INCORPORATED REORGANIZES SPECIALTY MATERIALS GROUP
 BUSINESSES ALIGNED WORLDWIDE; POSITIONED FOR GROWTH
 CORNING, N.Y., May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) said today it is reorganizing its Specialty Materials Group to align its businesses on a worldwide basis and to focus on opportunities for growth. "We are implementing this change to exploit Corning's materials and process technologies in global markets where we lead with a competitive advantage," said Norman E. Garrity, executive vice president, Specialty Materials Group.
 The group includes more than 40,000 specialty-materials products for industrial and scientific needs -- from emission-control products made of cellular ceramics to laboratory ware made of plastic. Worldwide, some 6,100 Corning employees are members of the Specialty Materials Group.
 To implement the business reorganization, the following are key appointments to be effective June 1: Carl H. Blowers is proposed as vice president and general manager-Advanced Materials and Process Technologies Division. His new position will be presented to the Corning Board of Directors for approval. In addition, Blowers will be responsible for Specialty Materials Group development.
 Peter F. Campanella continues as vice president and general manager- Science Products Division. Philippe L. Delloye, president and directeur generale of Corning France, is also named general manager, Optical Products-worldwide.
 Robert L. Ecklin, continues as senior vice president and general manager-Environmental Products Division. The division, previously known as the Industrial Products Division, has been renamed to more adequately reflect its mission.
 In the Advanced Materials and Process Technologies Division, John J. Dunphy, division vice president, is named director-Internal Development; Robert J. Flickinger, is named business manager-Magnetic Memory Disks; and Randall D. Price is appointed business manager-Advanced Materials.
 In the Environmental Products Division, Paul R. O'Connor is appointed general manager-Ceramics-Europe.
 In Optical Products, John M. Holliday, division vice president, is appointed business manager-North American Optical; S. Zaki Mustafa is appointed division vice president and general manager-Sunglass Products- worldwide; and Vivian L. Gernand is appointed business manager-Photon.
