COREL SELECTED TO SUPPLY GRAPHICS SOFTWARE FOR ONTARIO SCHOOL BOARDS

OTTAWA, July 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Corel Corporation, one of the world's leading developers of graphics software, was recently selected by the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training to supply graphics software to school boards throughout the province. The recently approved license agreement gives the Ministry the right to unlimited reproduction of CorelDRAW. The software will be available late August to all 170 school boards across Ontario, for use in kindergarten through grade 12, and Ontario Academic Course year (OAC).
"CorelDRAW is an enjoyable and highly effective tool for introducing and familiarizing its users with computer technology," said Dr. Michael Cowpland, president and CEO of Corel Corporation. "CorelDRAW provides users of all ages and levels of experience with powerful features that are ideal for a wide range of applications, including desktop publishing, graphic arts, and technical illustrations."
"I was extremely pleased that the Ontario Ministry of Education and Training was able to acquire a provincial license for CorelDRAW," said Bill Mitchell, Manager of Curriculum Resources at the Ministry. "The fact that it is available to all Ontario schools, regardless of geographical location or size, means that all students will have an equal opportunity to learn from this fine piece of software."
The new license agreement applies to CorelDRAW 2.01, CorelDRAW for OS/2 version 2.5, and CorelDRAW 3. Restricted for use within educational environments, the license allows school boards to make unlimited copies of CorelDRAW for use by students, teachers and other educational personnel. School boards will be able to request CorelDRAW late August, through regular TV Ontario distribution procedures.
