CORE announces an expansion of its regional coach and leader institutes into Chicago Chicago, city, United States

Reading First and other reading initiatives have focused on training teachers in research-based instructional techniques. More states and school districts, however, are turning their attention to the role of the coach to support instruction and the role of the principal and district leader to manage that instruction effectively. Since 2003, eight state departments of education and federal agencies have asked CORE to deliver institutes for coaches and leaders. To meet the requests of schools and districts not served by these state efforts, CORE doubled the number of regional coach and leader institutes and expanded locations beyond the West.

CORE Reading Leader Institutes help elementary and secondary district administrators, site administrators, and leadership teams understand the issues for leadership focused on reading program implementation. The CORE Reading Coach Institute is designed for teacher leaders and coaches to prepare them to support reading instruction in the classroom and to successfully implement research-based reading programs.
