The only neighboring Argentine province is Salta to the east and south. , Argentina.

X-1 well reached TD at 1,040 meters. Cuttings and well cores encountered oil shows between 973 and 992 meters, and at 1,001 and 1,004 meters. Log calculations also indicate hydrocarbons and porosity in those intervals. CORDEX has elected to set casing in the well through the Yacoraite and the underlying Lecho Sandstone.

Subsequent to casing the Rio Negro X-1 well, the drilling rig will be moved to the San Pedro Prospect, 22 Km, to the south, to drill the Pena Colorado X-1 well, also targeting the Yacoraite Formation. As soon as practicable after drilling rig release, a service rig will be brought in to test the zones of interest.
