They also enter the game having beaten the Matadors seven times in the past 10 years. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Corcoran is one of the Aggies' captains for the second straight year, an honor bestowed upon him by his teammates. Corcoran, it seems, has made lemonade out of lemons. He is an outstanding Division II football player because of his heart, not his 40-yard dash time. ``If you were to rate Teddy by his statistics or by his athleticism he probably wouldn't be a starter,'' Davis coach Bob Biggs said. ``If you rate him by his instincts and his understanding of the game, he's a team captain. ``If we were in a league he would be all league. He's the kind of guy you win with. He's a football players who knows how to play the game and how to win.'' Biggs said he is ``time and time again bewildered by'' the plays Corcoran makes, even though he sees Corcoran spending extra time studying films. ``On paper it doesn't look like he should be able to make the plays he does,'' Biggs said. ``He will study an opponent to such a degree, he knows every idiosyncrasy idiosyncrasy /id·io·syn·cra·sy/ (-sing´krah-se) 1. a habit peculiar to an individual. 2. an abnormal susceptibility to an agent (e.g., a drug) peculiar to an individual. of an offensive linemen n. pl. 1. the football players who line up on the line of scrimmage. Corcoran, who will graduate in December with degrees in history and political science, used to take films home when he was at Chaminade. At Davis, he arrives early for practice. His first two years of college, he watched and learned while backing up an All-American. ``I think I have a pretty good understanding of the game,'' he said. ``I try to study what the other team is trying to do. I'm not the fastest guy out there, so I have to know where I'm going.'' ``One of the things that is so special about the players at Davis is we're all here for the love of the game,'' Corcoran said. ``That's what makes this program unique. Our success stems from the love that we have.'' Notes: Freshman R.J.
