Bennett, Ph.D., has been appointed Vice President, Research. In this capacity, Dr. Bennett will be responsible for the Company's research activities and will report to Dr. Charles Homcy, Executive Vice President, Research and Development. Dr. David R. Phillips, a co-founder of COR who has served as Vice President, Research since the Company's inception, has become Principal Research Scientist at the Company. Prior to joining COR, Dr. Bennett, age 46, served as Staff Scientist and Director of Recovery Sciences at Genentech, Inc. Since joining Genentech in 1982, Dr. Bennett has held several research and managerial positions, including Staff Scientist, Department of Cardiovascular Research and t-PA research project team leader. Most recently, he was development project team leader for a second generation thrombolytic, Genentech's TNK-tPA compound. Previously, Dr. Bennett held positions as a research scientist at both the University of Texas Medical School and Rice University. In addition to his laboratory experience, Dr. Bennett has published and lectured extensively. He is currently a member of the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is an original member of the International Society of Fibrinolysis fibrinolysis /fi·bri·nol·y·sis/ (fi?brin-ol´i-sis) dissolution of fibrin by enzymatic action.fibrinolyt´ic fi·bri·nol·y·sis n. pl. and Thrombolysis. A native of Odessa, Texas, Dr. Bennett received his undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University Texas Christian University, at Fort Worth; Christian Church (Disciples of Christ); coeducational; opened 1873 at Thorp Spring, chartered 1874 as Add Ran Male and Female College. It assumed its present name in 1902 and moved to Fort Worth in 1910. and his doctorate degree in biochemistry from the University of Texas (Southwestern) Medical School.
