COPTERS CALLED IN TO BATTLE FIRE, PROTECT HOMES.

LEONA VALLEY - Firefighters in the air and ground battled a wildfire fire that broke out late Wednesday afternoon in triple-digit temperatures.

Helicopters were called in to help protect homes along Elizabeth Lake Road as the flames moved eastward through dry grass and light brush and sent up a huge plume of smoke, officials said.

``We have over 200 personnel on the line,'' Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County Fire Inspector John Mancha said.
