COPTER TO DROP WINNING BALLS.

Byline: Daily News

VALENCIA - The second annual Golf Ball Drop will be held Monday at THE Valencia Country Club in conjunction with the Santa Clarita Valley Special Olympics Charity Golf Tournament

The Golf Ball Drop will take place on the driving range at the conclusion of the tournament about 4:30 p.m. Helinet Aviation Services has donated the use of one of its helicopters, which will hover about 100 feet above the driving range to release approximately 4,000 numbered balls.

There is a guaranteed first-place cash prize of $2,500 that will be awarded to the person who has the numbered ticket that corresponds to the ball closest to the hole. A prize of $1,000 will be awarded to the second-closest, $500 for third-closest, and $500 for farthest from the hole.

A group of balls will be selected randomly prior to the drop, and if one of these balls goes in the hole, a grand prize of $25,000 will be awarded to the person with the corresponding ticket. Winners need not be present to win.

Numbered tickets are available for a suggested donation of $5 per ticket, $20 for six tickets, $50 for 12 tickets or $100 for 25 tickets. All proceeds from the event will benefit local athletes of the Santa Clarita Valley Special Olympics.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Special Olympics office at (661) 253-2121 or by visiting the office at 24779 Valley St., Newhall.
