ARMED police arrested a man yesterday after an eight-hour siege.

Police were called to a flat in the east end of Glasgow at about 3.40am after reports of a man holding his partner and four children hostage with a knife.

Dozens of armed cops swooped on the area and surrounded the flat in Galdenoch Street, Ruchazie, while special negotiators were brought in.

Neighbours claimed the man, aged 44, had slashed his wrists after an argument with his girlfriend in their second-floor flat.

The man, nicknamed Jesus by locals because of his long hair and beard, ended the stand-off and allowed police in at 11.20am.

He was arrested and was led to a waiting ambulance soon after.

As he was marched away by cops, onlookers jeered at him and he screamed abuse back, saying: "A********. You're all f****** idiots."
