Substances found in his council house, where he lives with his sick mother, were blown up by bomb disposal experts in nearby woods at around 2am. One neighbour said it was like "a plane had exploded in my garden". Police said last night they had discovered "suspect" material at the house in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol. They refused to say what it was but called his arrest "preventative", adding that the raid was "critical".
