COPS 'DID NOTHING' ABOUT DEATH THREATS; MUM LEFT BRUM WITH KIDS AND CHANGED NAME: EXCLUSIVE.

THE Solihull father of tragic teenager Chanelle Sasha Jones had sent texts threatening to ''kidnap and kill'' her mother six months ago, it was claimed last night.

A close friend of the pretty 17 yearold made the allegation as an independent investigation was launched into the police handling of the case.

Cops found the body of Chanelle in the boot of a car near Aberaeron, on the Welsh west coast, last Sunday night. She had been stabbed to death.

Her father Gary Fisher, 47, has since been charged with murder.

A close friend of Chanelle, known to pals as Sasha, said the family had moved to Cardigan in Wales in the late 1990s.

She said: "I've known Sasha since she first moved here as a little girl.

"The family moved from Birmingham after her mum Jayne fell out with their dad. They also changed their surname to Jones and had been happy here until the last few months.

"Sasha decided to get in touch with her dad again when she was about 13 and had been in contact on and off ever since.

"But they fell out about six months ago and he started to send texts to her mum, Jayne, who he said he was going to kidnap and kill.

"Jayne went to the police but all they advised her to do was to change her mobile number.

"She did that, but he managed to find out what her new number was and continued the threats but the police did nothing, nothing at all."

Chanelle went missing last Sunday, August 2, and her family reported her disappearance to Dyfed Powys Police.

Cops eventually found her body after stopping a Ford Fiesta on the A487 near Aberaeron, Ceredigion, later that evening.

The car crashed into a camper van parked in a lay-by after a police stinger punctured its tyres.

Fun-loving The friend described Chanelle as an innocent, fun-loving girl who was studying childcare at college.

She said: "We grew up together and went to school together, we did everything together. She was always laughing and joking.

''I can't believe that she's gone and her whole family are just devastated. I saw her younger brother the other day and he just slumped into my arms crying.

''The whole community is in shock by what has happened."

Chanelle's mother Jayne has also paid tribute to the teenager. She said: "My beautiful daughter Chanelle Sa-shhas been taken from us due to a cruel set of circumstances.

"She has been through so much in her short life and I was, and we all are, so proud of how she was turning her life around for the better and she had so many ambitions.

"She was my lovely daughter who will be so sadly missed by her sister and two brothers and all her family and her boyfriend Brian.

''We all love you and miss you darling babe."

Dyfed Powys Police referred all inquiries to the Independent Police Complaints Commission which is now investigating the force's handling of the case.

Tom Davies, Wales Commissioner for the IPCC, said: "Our own investigators will be looking at whether the police response to the missing person report was proportionate and timely.

''IPCC investigators will also look at the force's missing person risk assessment and whether the police had any previous intelligence to take account of.'' Gary Fisher appeared in Llanelli Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with his daughter's murder on August 2. Chairman Jeff Derrick remanded him in custody until a Crown Court appearance on Friday, August 14.
