COPS' MOTORCYCLE CLUB TO HOLD KICKOFF EVENT SATURDAY.

PALMDALE - A motorcycle club This article is about "American-style" motorcycle clubs (MCs) as a specific cultural phenomenon, not motorcycle riding clubs in the generic sense of the term.

 made up of active and retired law enforcement officers will host the kickoff party and poker run A Poker run (also known as a Poker Derby) is an organized event using a motorcycle, boat, car or other form of transportation where participants travel over a predesignated route and, at designated stops on the route, draw playing card(s).  Saturday in preparation for the 10th annual Thunder thunder, sound produced along a path of a lightning flash, caused by the rapid heating and expansion of the adjacent air. Rolling thunder occurs either as a result of the time difference between sounds from the far and near end of a flash, or when mountains, layers  on the Lot car show.

Saturday's event, hosted by the Out Law Pigs motorcycle club, is designed to register people who will participate in the June 13 Thunder on the Lot and will also raise money for children's charities by raffling off prizes including a big-screen television.

``It's going to be a lot of fun,'' said Out Law Pigs member Dale Hedges. ``We're hoping to raise about $15,000 for the children's charities and just make this year even bigger.''

Registration for the poker run will be held between 8 and 10 a.m. Saturday at the Palmdale Schooner's restaurant, on 20th Street East at Palmdale Boulevard. The run will end about 1 p.m. at the Lancaster Schooner's, 43807 15th St. W.

Booths set up at Lancaster Schooner's will register cars and motorcycles to be shown in the Thunder on the Lot and sell raffle tickets for the June 13 event. The June 13 raffle prizes include two 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycles, a custom Honda honda

 car, cruises and other trips and a spa. Raffle tickets are $100 each. A limited number of tickets will be sold for each prize, organizers said.

Saturday's event will include a raffle for a big-screen television, among other prizes, as well as a 50/50 raffle for cash and music by the Bull Frog Blues Band.

The Thunder on the Lot event on June 13 will be held at Desert Sands Park on Technology Drive at Third Street East in Palmdale. The proceeds from both events will go to local charities. The event was initially designed to benefit the Children's Center of the Antelope Valley, which receives the majority of the funds, but now includes several other charities.
