The City Council last week approved a one-year contract giving Burbank firefighters a 2.4-percent cost-of-living increase. The agreement will cost the city $350,000.

And the 700 members of the Burbank City Employees Association got a 2.4 percent raise and enhanced medical coverage under a $617,000 agreement approved in August.

After negotiating with the city since April, the police union declared an impasse earlier this week. Negotiators plan to meet again in the coming days, with the union seeking a three-year contract with enhanced pay.
