Beth Haynes, director of youth services for the Hospice of the Conejo in Thousand Oaks, said the event reinforced the methods she uses - including art therapy and honest talk - to help grieving grieving Mourning, see there  children express themselves.

``The conference stimulated a lot of thought for me, it encouraged creativity,'' Haynes said, adding that the comments of the panel reaffirmed her belief that the less you push children, the more likely they are to talk and express themselves.

``The thing that they get most out of (therapy) is to feel like they're not different. There's a camaraderie that they've all (experienced from) a death,'' she said.

``I found (the conference) extremely helpful. It provides practical suggestions and skills that you can put into your tool box, so when you're in that crisis situation you can say, I remember,'' Peckham said.

``People underestimate the golden opportunities that there are to educate people in respect to death and loss - being able to cope, being prepared.''
