These drives now boost the capacity of COPAN's enhanced MAID arrays by 50 percent, giving them an unprecedented 672 terabytes of capacity in a single cabinet - the industry's highest storage density of 67.2 TB/sq ft. - saving valuable space in the data center.

According to a recent survey of data center managers conducted by The InfoPro, the average installed SAN disk storage capacity in the Fortune 1000 organizations increased from 138 TB in early 2004 to over 680 TB in October of 2006. That number has doubled approximately every 10 months since 2005 and is expected to only increase.

The savings are significant with estimates for power and cooling savings between $5.7 million and $7.8 million over a four year time period.
