Conference Center in College Park, Maryland College Park is a city in Prince George's County, Maryland, USA. The population was 24,657 at the 2000 census. It is best known as the home of the University of Maryland, College Park, and since 1994 the city has also been home to the "Archives II" facility of the U.S. .

Dr. Guha will present a discussion about MAID for Active Archive Data in the "Emerging Technologies Panel," hosted by Mark Ferelli on Thursday, April 15, 2004. He will also present in the "Vendor Solutions Session" on Friday, April 16, 2004 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the unique architecture of COPAN Systems -- new approach for creating large-scale cost-effective mass storage systems.

"There are significant challenges in creating a large scale, cost effective, reliable disk subsystem for active archive data," said Dr. Guha. "COPAN Systems has extended and optimized MAID technology to produce a new storage architecture, with the ability to scale to hundreds of terabytes at the cost of tape."

About the Conference

The conference combines technical papers, posters, and a vendor exposition in a unique forum tailored for users, designers, managers, and vendors of large-scale storage systems and technologies. For more information about the conference, see www.storageconference.org/2004.
