COPAN Systems Appoints Priyan Guneratne as VP of Engineering and Roger Archibald as VP of Marketing and Business Development; Storage Industry Thought Leaders Bolster COPAN's Executive Team.


LONGMONT, Colo. -- COPAN Co·pán  

A ruined Mayan city of western Honduras that flourished from c. 300 b.c. to a.d. 900. The ruins include the Hieroglyphic Stairway with nearly 2,000 glyphs.
 Systems, a leading provider of complete storage solutions that unlock the value of long-term data, today announced the appointments of Priyan Guneratne to vice president of engineering and Roger Archibald to vice president of marketing and business development. Guneratne will head the company's leading-edge engineering, program management, research and development teams, while Archibald will oversee the company's marketing efforts.

After serving as senior director of engineering at COPAN Systems since August 2003, Mr. Guneratne assumes his position as vice president with more than 20 years of engineering and management experience. Prior to COPAN, Guneratne served as vice president of engineering and operations at Storage Engine, where he was instrumental in leading the development of several high-end storage products, as well as negotiating key OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  deals with major customers. While establishing Storage Engine's manufacturing operations, he took the company toward ISO (1) See ISO speed.

 9000 certification in less than one year.

Mr. Archibald brings nearly 30 years of technology marketing experience, having held senior level positions at Hewlett-Packard, Compaq and StorageTek. Previously, Archibald consulted for several start-ups. While at HP, Archibald was part of the team that was able to merge the HP and Compaq product sets into a single integrated offering, while maintaining and growing market share. Earlier in his career, Archibald played a key role in the development and introduction of the HP LaserJet printer.

. Archibald is a graduate of Brigham Young University Brigham Young University, at Provo, Utah; Latter-Day Saints; coeducational; opened as an academy in 1875 and became a university in 1903. It is noted for its law and business schools.  with a BS and MS in Engineering and a MBA from Boise State University.

In other company news, COPAN recently moved headquarters in Longmont, Colorado, from Trade Centre Avenue to larger facilities at 1900 Pike Road, in preparation for continued growth.
