COOPERS & LYBRAND APPOINTS THOMAS J. COLLIGAN MANAGING PARTNER
FOR THE PHILADELPHIA CLIENT SERVICE CLUSTER
NEW YORK, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the firm's new strategic direction, Coopers & Lybrand Chairman Eugene M. Freedman today announced the appointment of Thomas J. Colligan as managing partner for the Philadelphia client service cluster.
Colligan will direct firm operations for offices in four Pennsylvania cities: Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Valley Forge.
"Tom's experience and abilities as a strong client service partner, as well as an outstanding coach and mentor, will help drive the growth of our people and our firm," according to Freedman.
The firm's new strategy is designed to ensure high quality and efficient delivery of services, Freedman explained. The cluster structure links Coopers & Lybrand offices, promoting a teamwork approach to serving our clients, said Freedman.
In his 24 years of broad-based experience with Coopers & Lybrand, Colligan has served a wide spectrum of clients, from working with major international companies to helping firms through the public offering process. He has hands-on experience in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, high technology, pharmaceuticals and higher education. He is also a member of Coopers & Lybrand's Firm Council, the firm's governing body.
Colligan has been located in Coopers & Lybrand's Philadelphia office since 1990. Earlier he headed the firm's high technology practice for New Jersey and the New York Metro region's five offices.
Colligan holds a bachelor of science degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He has served as an adjunct professor of accounting at the graduate schools of business for Seton Hall University, Montclair State College, and Upsala College. He also served on the Advisory Council of the New Jersey Institute of Technology, the board of the Independent College Fund of New Jersey and was a trustee of the Tri-County Scholarship Fund.
In the recently announced new strategic direction, Freedman stressed that a strong client focus combined with an orientation to provide excellent client service at all levels will lead the firm into the next century.
Coopers & Lybrand's strategy for the future differentiates the firm from its competitors. In addition to 16 client service clusters, the strategy focuses on five core businesses (Business Assurance, Human Resource Consulting, Performance Improvement, Process Management and Tax) and six core competencies (Business Process and Quantitative Analysis, Human Resource Development, International, Learning and Strategy, Relationship Management, and Technology.)
One of the world's leading professional services firm, Coopers & Lybrand provides solutions for businesses in a wide range of industries. The firm offers its clients the expertise of more than 16,000 professionals and staff in 91 U.S. offices and more than 67,000 people in 121 countries worldwide.
