COOPERS & LYBRAND APPOINTS JONATHON E. KILLMER
MANAGING PARTNER FOR MINNEAPOLIS CLIENT SERVICE CLUSTER
NEW YORK, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the firm's new strategic direction, Coopers & Lybrand Chairman Eugene M. Freedman today announced the appointment of Jonathon E. Killmer as managing partner for the Minneapolis client service cluster.
Killmer, formerly managing partner of the Minneapolis office, will now direct firm operations in offices in six cities: Minneapolis, Des Moines, Kansas City, Lincoln, Omaha and St. Louis.
"Jon comes to this position with a strong client service orientation and reputation as an outstanding coach and mentor," said Freedman. "These skills will enable him to drive the growth of our people and our firm in this key area of the country."
The firm's new strategy is designed to ensure high quality and efficient delivery of services, Freedman explained. The cluster structure links Coopers & Lybrand offices, promoting a teamwork approach to serving our clients, said Freedman.
Killmer brings 28 years of experience to the position. A client service leader, he has worked with a variety of major companies in many industries, including construction, utilities, professional sports and higher education.
Killmer has served in a number of leadership roles within the firm. Prior to his recent position as managing partner of the Minneapolis office, he was managing partner of the St. Louis office for 15 years. He is a member of Coopers & Lybrand's firm council, the firm's governing body, and a trustee of the Coopers & Lybrand Foundation.
Killmer is a member of the national board of directors of INROADS, the American Symphony Orchestra League, and a member of the boards of the Minnesota Business Partnership, the Minnesota Orchestral Association, the Downtown Council of Minneapolis, the Minneapolis Aquatennial Association and the Salvation Army. He is also on the advisory boards of the School of Accountancy and the College of Business Administration of the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Killmer holds bachelor of science, bachelor of arts and master of arts degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
In the recently announced new strategic direction, Freedman stressed that a strong client focus combined with an orientation to provide excellent client service at all levels will drive the firm into the next century.
Coopers & Lybrand's strategy for the future differentiates the firm from its competitors. In addition to 16 client service clusters, the strategy focuses on five core businesses (Business Assurance, Human Resource Consulting, Performance Improvement, Process Management and Tax) and six core competencies (Business Processes and Quantitative Analysis, Human Resource Development, International, Learning and Strategy, Relationship Management, and Technology).
One of the world's leading professional services firms, Coopers & Lybrand provides solutions for businesses in a wide range of industries. The firm offers its clients the expertise of more than 16,000 professionals and staff in 91 U.S. cities and more than 67,000 people in 121 countries worldwide.
