COOPER JOINT VENTURE RECEIVES GAS TURBINE ORDERS WORTH MORE THAN $60 MILLION FOR MOROCCO, CANADA AND THE NORTH SEA

 HOUSTON, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Cooper Rolls, an equally owned joint venture of Cooper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: CBE) and Rolls-Royce plc of London, has received orders worth more than $60 million for seven Coberra(R) gas turbines and five Cooper-Bessemer(R) centrifugal compressors. The equipment is slated for gas compression service in Morocco and Canada and for offshore power generation service in the North Sea. Cooper's share of the orders is more than $40 million.
 A Coberra gas turbine consists of a Rolls-Royce industrial gas generator matched with a Cooper-Bessemer(R) power turbine, often driving a Cooper-Bessemer centrifugal gas compressor.
 Europe Maghreb Pipeline Limited, based in Spain, has ordered four Coberra gas turbine compression sets, including site installation. Each of the four turbines will be driving a Cooper-Bessemer compressor. The units will be put into service in Morocco, at Europe Maghreb Pipeline stations in Frontera and Estrecho.
 Delivery of this equipment is scheduled for the third quarter of 1994, and site completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 1995. This order marks the first for Coberra gas turbines to be installed in Morocco and within the Europe Maghreb Pipeline Limited gas transmission system.
 For transmission of Canadian gas for export, Foothills Pipe Lines Ltd. has ordered a Coberra gas turbine driving a Cooper-Bessemer compressor for installation at its Monchy 394 station in Saskatchewan, Canada. Delivery of this equipment is scheduled for the first quarter of 1994.
 British Petroleum has ordered two Coberra gas turbines for power generation service on its innovative, new "Jack-Up" platform for its Forth field development in the North Sea. The gas turbines, which will be installed with heat waste recovery units, are scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 1994.
 With these new orders, Cooper Rolls has a total of more than 535 Coberra gas turbines installed or on order worldwide. Coberra gas turbines have more than 22 million hours of operating experience.
