Cooney yesterday refused to condemn the unsavoury incidents during Sunday's Ulster Championship clash between Derry and Monaghan. Derry midfielder Fergal Doherty was the only player to be sent-off during a game that boiled with cynicism from start to finish but it appears certain that other players will be singled out for their actions with suspensions to follow. I am not going to tell the CCCC what to do. I have appointed people to do a job and I have the utmost confidence in them." The Ulster Council is also set to investigate claims that a Monaghan player was struck by a fan during the game. Meanwhile Cooney said that the GAA has no plans to go down the road of implementing technology to help officials in big games.
