"I was not surprised this wine won," said G.M. "Pooch" Pucilowski, Sacramento-based wine educator, chief judge and director of the competition. Second place went to Wente Brothers 2005 Chardonnay Arroyo Seco Monterey Riva Ranch Vineyard ($17.99). DRIED PLUMS GO SINGLE To appeal to the snack market, Sunsweet Ones is a product that offers 20 individually wrapped dried plums (prunes) packaged in a 7-ounce container with a suggested retail of $2.99. The amount of packaging involved in this product seems wasteful, but the concept is handy if you want to tote prunes, which are surprisingly appealing in this format. A better choice might have been to package one serving (100 calories) -- four prunes -- per packet.
