On Friday, the woman affectionately known as ``Mommy Oshan'' will be honored for 50 years of teaching during a special ceremony at 8 p.m. at Temple Sinai of Glendale. Oshan said she has always loved the young. ``I teach them to be kind to people who have less than they do,'' she said. ``And to honor their mother and father and teacher.'' David Bidna, former educational director of the religious school at Temple Judea, said professional dedication distinguished Oshan as a teacher. ``I remember her ability to get the kids to do what they were being asked to do,'' Bidna said. ``She's very devoted to Judaism, and she passed it on to her pupils.'' Now she takes art classes at the Braille Institute in Los Angeles, where she makes ceramic face molds depicting rabbis she has met during the years. ``When I started losing my vision I had to do something with my hands,'' Oshan said. Although her art career has been blooming - she sold a couple of pieces of art, one for $100 - she remains involved with children. She visits youth groups and hopes to volunteer with the Crippled Children's Society of Los Angeles County. ``I will be involved with children till the day I die,'' Oshan said. ``Children are the future.''
