Who says most Southerners are not vegetarian? After looking through Ann Jackson's new book Cookin' Southern Vegetarian Style, I think everyone down South will be craving her vegetarian dishes and changing their eating habits.

In this book, you'll find recipes for Greens and Peanut Sauce, Baking Powder Biscuits, Grilled Okra and Tomatoes, Savannah Red Rice, Garlic Grits, Sweet Potato Pie Sweet Potato Pie is a traditional dessert popular in the Southern United States.

It is a usually made as a large tart in an open pie shell without a top crust. The filling consists of sweet potatoes, milk, sugar and eggs, flavored with spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg.
