CONVERSION ADDS NEEDED HOSPITAL BEDS ACUTE-CARE PATIENTS GET MORE SPACE.

Byline: Daily News

VALENCIA - Earlier this month, Roger Seaver, president and chief executive of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, stood among employees who helped develop the hospital's newest unit and congratulated them on the opening.

Seaver said 27 previously unused beds in the facility's Pavilion building were converted into the new wing that increases the hospital's capacity to serve acute-care patients by 20 percent.

``Previously, we weren't configured con·fig·ure

At least half of those transitional-care beds were consistently unoccupied, while the hospital's acute-care beds were always full, he said.

The conversion will help the hospital meet more of the local community's needs, Seaver said.
