CONVERGENT MEDIA SYSTEMS AND BELL ATLANTIC SIGN MULTIMILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT.


ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 1995--Convergent Media Systems today announced a multi-year outsourcing (1) Contracting with outside consultants, software houses or service bureaus to perform systems analysis, programming and datacenter operations. Contrast with insourcing. Atlanta-based Convergent will acquire all of the assets in Bell Atlantic's three broadcast and video production studios located in Newark, N.J., Philadelphia, Pa., and Silver Springs, Md. Convergent will provide broadcast production, video and multimedia capabilities to Bell Atlantic, as well as interactive multimedia, electronic publishing An umbrella term for non-paper publishing, which includes publishing online or on media such as CDs and DVDs.  and broadcast programming services.

"Convergent met all of our requirements and will enable us to reduce our costs while teaming with an aggressive and innovative organization."

Convergent plans to consolidate Bell Atlantic's current studios into a Media Center located in Washington, DC -- Arlington, Va. area. This will become Convergent's second Media Center, the first being located outside of Boston, Mass.

From its new Media Center, Convergent will provide the following services to Bell Atlantic and other clients: -0-
    --Business Television Production and Transmission
    --Interactive Multimedia Design and Implementation
    --Electronic Publishing
    --Video Production
    --Computer-based Training Design and Development
    --Computer Graphics Design and Production
    --Event Planning and Staging


Convergent's highly regarded outsourcing arrangement with Digital Equipment Corp. contributed to Bell Atlantic's selection of Convergent, according to according to
