CONTROL DATA TO SIGN SUPERCOMPUTING MARKETING AGREEMENT WITH JAPAN'S NEC
 MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Control Data Corporation's (NYSE: CDA) Computer Products Group and Japan's NEC today exchanged a memorandum of understanding for Control Data to market and sell SX-3 supercomputers to its European and North American customer base, primarily in the automotive and aerospace industries, and other selected markets around the world.
 Control Data and NEC will develop a broad-based sales plan which will utilize Control Data's resources for customer training, customer support, office and site logistical support. Both companies will also explore the possibility of technical and marketing cooperation in other areas.

"Many of our manufacturing customers in the automotive and aerospace industries need high-performance functionality that only a supercomputer can provide. This gives our customers a wide range of options and complements our existing product line of advanced manufacturing applications, high-performance 3D graphics workstations and high-end open systems servers."
