CONTINENTAL ACQUIRES MK MEDICAL REHAB.Byline: Daily News GLENDALE - Continental Home Healthcare said Wednesday it has acquired MK Medical to broaden its footprint in the rehabilitative equipment sector. Glendale-based Continental would not disclose terms of the deal, although the company anticipates the transaction will add $7 million in annual revenues. Gross sales in the company's rehabilitative division will now total approximately $12 million annually, representing approximately 40 percent of Continental's overall revenues, the company said. MK Medical specializes in customized rehabilitative equipment, with facilities in Cerritos, Bakersfield and Fresno. Continental said these new locations will help the company become among the most prominent rehabilitative services provider in California. The acquisition will also allow Continental to market its other product lines, specifically its respiratory products and services in three new markets. ``We are delighted to add these units to our existing rehab division because it is a niche area of our industry in which Continental is considered a leader,'' Robert Thornton, Continental's chief executive officer and president, said in a statement. Continental's primary business is acquiring, consolidating and managing health care equipment retailers. Many of these retailers provide hospital beds, custom power and manual wheelchairs, scooters and respiratory products. |
